About the name Cedarmount

Cedarmount comes from the word cedar; a very large, evergreen tree found in mostly rain forest area with limestone. Cedar trees are very resistant to fires, disease and have pleasant smells no wonder Solomon used it to build God’s temple.

The cedar tree has many beneficial and distinguishing characters;

Firstly, their very deep roots: For every 10 feet above the ground the roots go 3 feet under.

Secondly, penetration: the tips of the roots are equipped with substances that allow them drill through the toughest of rocks and continue the deep rootedness of the tree.

Thirdly, usefulness to others, pencils are made from cedar wood. Their branches serve as home to many birds and animals.

Fourthly, their resistance to diseases and decay. Their saps have a natural repellent to harmful insects and fungi. They give out sweet smelling aromas.

Fifthly, they can stand alone but when they have neighbouring tree the limbs grow right into the foliage of the other trees. Oftentimes, they grow together, if one tree dies the limbs of the cedar tree will sustain it by merging with other surviving trees.

Lastly, cedar trees can live up to 3000 years. These qualities: resilient, resistance to negative ideas, ability to survive and succeed alone, learning support to others, deep rooted knowledge, functional education and more are what you get by enrolling your child into Cedarmount School.
